NOF training
The staff at Stalbridge Primary School have successfully trained in the use of ICT in primary education, using the funding provided by the New Opportunities Fund.
OOSHL
We provide Out of Hours School Learning paid for by the New Opportunities Fund - this allows us to offer children the opportunity to enjoy activities that are not available in the normal school day.
This activity is a joint venture with the schools within the Sturminster Newton Pyramid - both the Primary Schools and the Secondary School. Within the Pyramid the children are posting work on a Pyramid website.
The children keep contact with each other on a weekly basis using video conferencing, which allows them to discuss joint activities and tell each other about what they are doing.
During the last year we have designed and started a new Wild Life Garden at the bottom of the school field. As the weather improves we will continue the development of this during the OOSHL club.
See what has been happening in the garden so far

During the winter months the children have had the opportunity to plan and develop the new track layout . The children ( and the teachers) can now play with trains!!

Work is continuing on this during the coming term.
Apart from the rail track, the children have had the opportunity to learn about making candles. They have also designed and tested wind and battery powered buggies.

Using ICT
The children use information technology to record their different activities. During OOSHL club time they have used digital cameras and the digital video camera to enhance their work. They have learned to use Excel spreadsheets, MS Publisher to prepare leaflets and MS Powerpoint to make their own presentations. They have scanned photographs and used picture editing software. They have had the opportunity to explore the Internet and learned to copy and paste information from the Internet to their own work. The interactive whiteboard has been used in the presentation of Powerpoint files.
