King henry viii
Henry was born in Greenwich palace in 1491 and became king at the
age of seventeen. He reined from 1509 to 1547. Over these years a lot
happened.

The King had many intrests like these hunting, jousting and hawking.
As he got older they chaged to tennis, music and eating! Other things
as well but these are the main ones.

When he was only ten his brother Arthur died. At the age of 16 the
young Henry married his first wife, his brother's widow Cathrine of
Aragon. She and him had one surviving child, Mary. But Henry wanted a
baby boy so he decided to divorce her. He wrote to the pope telling him
to let them divorce but this was tricky as her father was king of Spain
and could easily get the pope if he let Henry get away with it. At this
the king got cross and sacked the pope saying he was in charge of the
church of England. Then he divorced Cathrine and married his next love.

Anne Boleyn. While King Henry was married to her they had a baby girl
called Elizabeth. But Henry was cross with this too because it again
was a girl. Because she was not a princess it was OK to execute her.
So he did.

His next wife was Jane Seymore, she was probably by far his favourite
wife. This was because she had his only son who would be able to rule
in his place when he died. After this he had three more wives. One was
divorsed, the next was executed and the last lived longer than him.
Here is a rhyme to help you remember: divorcsed, beheaded, died,
divorsed beheaded, survived.
King Henry VIII
King Henry was fat as a boar
He had six wives and still wanted more.
Anne and kate said "By heck!
He's a pain in the neck!"
As their heads landed smack on the floor.
