What will the Dorset Education Service deliver? |
|
| The
Dorset Youth and Community Service will: Provide young people with informal educational opportunities, which emphasise the key role that sustainability issues play in both their lives and those of others within their communities. |
| The
Dorset Adult and continuing Education Service will: Provide access to information about Sustainable Development, Provide opportunities for participation in training in Sustainable Development, Provide enhanced opportunities for lifelong learning. |
| Strategic
Services will: Assist the school community, in so far as resources will allow, by providing buildings which are models of sustainability and environmental good practice, so enabling pupils to practice sustainability in their own lives. |
| The
School Effectiveness Service will: Develop strategies to enhance the community contribution to pupil achievement, including guidance to parents, good practice on homework and using the arts and sport to build motivation and achieve excellence for pupils, Implement the literacy and numeracy strategies, including development at Key Stage 3 and of summer schools, Improve Information Communication Technology (ICT) capability, Work in conjunction with Pupil and Parent support Services to ensure that all pupils will have the opportunity to be included within their local mainstream schools as and where appropriate and that special schools are seen as part of the family of schools. |
| The
School Library Service will: Provide cost effective resources for schools at all levels and advice on all aspects of resource provision including training in Information and Computer Technology. |
| Pupil
and Parent Support Services will: Provide support, according to need, to pupils and their parents in the form of assessment, advice and as necessary actual provision. |

Dorset School Library Service.

The
School Library Service provides a cost-effective resource for schools
at all levels. This includes: the provision of project packs, the general
loan of materials, a book selling service and advice on all aspects of
resource provision including training in ICT. |
