EGGARDON HILL
It was so long ago and in the Iron Age
That they built a giant fort on top of the highest hill
With ditches deep and banks so high
And they called it Eggardon
chorus:
And the kites in the sky shall fly up high
And the kites in the sky shall fly up high
And the kites in the sky shall fly up high
When we go up Eggardon
We'll go up on the hill and we shall have some fun
When we lie on our backs and pick out shapes in the sky
With shouts of joy from every girl and boy
As they fly they fly their kites
chorus..........
Standing on grassy mounds among the meadow flowers
We see farms and fields and hamlets for miles around
The sparkling sea glinting for all to see
Is the view from Eggardon
chorus...
So why not join the fun, we welcome everyone
Come and fly your kites with us at our festival
Hot dogs to eat, and kites to make
Then we all roll down the hill!
