During June the
Year 2 children from Parrett and Axe, Sticklands and Beaminster Schools
went to the Kingcombe Centre near Hooke. We took some lovely photographs
of our day out and when we returned children from Parrett and Axe School
wrote about what they did on the computer, using the digital photographs
as inspiration.
We
Went river dipping and we had to lift up rocks. We had to wave the
net around in the water to catch creatures. Lots of children got
water in their boots but I did not. We caught a baby bullhead fish
and then we had to put it back carefully. - Annabel.
We
had to shake the rocks to get the fish on the run so we could catch
them. We put them in a tray and looked at them. We found little
creatures and then we put them back.- Charlie
In
this tray there are animals that live underwater. I used the net to catch
the animals. I held the net up and my partner moved the stones. At
Kingcombe I had fund and I met other children from other schools. - Oliver
This is a
damselfly. We saw it near the river when we we re
river dipping. It's wings are like green glass. I liked the
river dipping best because we got to catch creatures in the river.
Once we had a look at them we put them back in carefully. -
Sam
This
flower is called a wild orchid and this is a very rare flower so it is
against the rules to pick them. Orchids grow in the hay meadow and
there are only a few left. We saw lots of yellow flowers too called
eggs and bacon. - Abigail
This
is a cricket, its like a grasshopper. You find these in meadows,
fields and patches of long grass. We had to sneak up and PLOP we
caught a minibeast. - Rory
